A serial number is a sequence of characters that uniquely identifies a unit of goods, or a set of goods, or a kit of goods, or a group packaging based on the product code.
If the product does not have a serial number, participants in the circulation of goods submit an application to receive marking codes, and the ICOM automatically generates a serial number randomly, which will contain 13 characters and will be included in the Data Matrix code itself.
If the manufacturer already has its own serial numbers and wants these serial numbers to be included in the Data Matrix code, then when ordering marking codes, the participant in the circulation of goods submits a report to the system in CSV format, specifying all the serial numbers that should be included in the Data Matrix code. If the manufacturer's serial number contains fewer characters than required, then the participant in the circulation of goods needs to add the missing number of characters in the form of 0s before the main serial number.
Serial numbers are generated for the number of ordered Data Matrix codes. One order can contain no more than 150,000 codes.
