How to Create an Aggregation Code
To generate an aggregation code, you first need to generate an SSCC code (transport packaging code). Generating an SSCC code is possible through open internet sources and is not prohibited by labeling regulations.
What the Transport Packaging Code (SSCC) Looks Like
The transport packaging code appears as follows:
The logistic unit code (SSCC) is formed according to GS1 association rules. The code must include:
The code begins with the application identifier. The first "00" must always be present in the code.
Extension digit. In this case, the additional digit can be "0" (first level) or higher.
Company prefix. In place of the GS1 company prefix, the importer's Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) should be used (not applicable for the product group Pharmaceuticals). For the Pharmaceuticals product group, it is necessary to use the GCP prefix (Manufacturer/GTIN owner), issued by GS1.
Serial reference number. This is the sequential batch number or package number (generated by the participant in the goods circulation with the role of Manufacturer),
Check digit. When forming the check digit, GS1 rules must be followed. It can be calculated using an SSCC calculator (also available in open internet sources, for example, Check Digit Calculator - Services | DSR (gs1.org)) based on the first 17 digits (excluding the "00" identifier).
The resulting code will be: 00 0 XXXXXXXXX YYYYYYY D - where XXXXXXXXX is the GCP prefix or the company's TIN, YYYYYYY is the shipment batch number (must not repeat), and D is the check digit.
At the importer's discretion, you can generate an SSCC label (also available from open internet sources), print it, and apply it to the shipment, but this is not a mandatory step.
