The Data Matrix marking code includes three main groups of data and may contain one additional group (depending on the product category):
the first data group – the product code consisting of 14 characters (digits), preceded by the application identifier (01);
the second data group – the individual serial number of the trade unit, which represents the previous identifier (21) and consists of numeric characters or an alphanumeric sequence (in the Latin alphabet). For the data in this group, a special separator character should be used as a termination sign, which in the ASCII character table corresponds to the symbol with code 29 or 232;
the third data group (additional) – a 4-character (digits, lowercase and uppercase Latin letters, as well as special characters) verification key identifier (individual serial number) and the program is identified by the application code (91) and is generated by the Operator. For this data group, there must be a termination sign, a special separator character with code 29 or 232 in the ASCII character table;
the fourth data group – is identified by a verification code consisting of 44 characters (digits, lowercase and uppercase Latin letters, as well as special characters) and by the application code (92), and is generated by the Operator.
The data groups must be arranged sequentially, from the first to the fourth.
The marking code for each product category differs in the number of characters depending on which product group the item subject to marking belongs to.
