Household and Other Appliances: Import Limits for Individuals Not Subject to Mandatory Marking

The Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 148 dated April 2, 2022 “On the introduction of a system of mandatory digital marking of household appliances” introduced mandatory digital marking using identification means for certain types of household appliances. This means that the production, import, circulation and sale of the relevant types of household appliances are allowed only if they are properly marked and if a digital identification means in the form of Data Matrix codes is applied to the product (or its packaging).

Procedure for importing household appliances by individuals

In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 244 dated April 19, 2025 “On measures to further improve the procedure for moving certain types of goods across the customs border”, the following duty-free import limits for individuals have been established in the Republic of Uzbekistan:

  • Up to 1,000 (one thousand) US dollars — when crossing the customs border through international airports of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  • Up to 500 (five hundred) US dollars — when crossing the customs border through railway and river checkpoints of the State border of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  • Up to 300 (three hundred) US dollars — when crossing the customs border through road (pedestrian) checkpoints of the State border of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  • Up to 200 (two hundred) US dollars within one calendar quarter — for goods sent to an individual in international courier shipments;
  • Up to 100 (one hundred) US dollars — for goods sent to an individual in international postal shipments.

The import of goods for personal use by individuals when crossing the customs border within the limits specified above is carried out without mandatory written declaration, except for:  international postal shipments; international courier shipments; goods imported for entrepreneurial activity.

When individuals import goods across the customs border for entrepreneurial purposes, the general customs clearance rules established by legislation apply to the entire value of the imported goods.

Quantitative limits* have also been established for the import by individuals of certain goods for personal use through road (pedestrian), railway and river checkpoints of the State border of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which are not subject to customs duties.

* The value of these goods is included in the maximum import limits established for individuals importing goods into the Republic through road (pedestrian), railway and river checkpoints of the State border of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which are not subject to customs duties, in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-3512 dated February 6, 2018 “On measures to further regulate the movement of goods by individuals across the customs border”. The quantitative limits for duty-free import of goods apply only during the first crossing of the checkpoint of the State border of the Republic of Uzbekistan by an individual within the specified period.
