What is a product category
Commodity category is a set of goods that the buyer perceives as similar to each other. Commodity category is the second level of classification of labeled goods, above which is the commodity group, and determines the rules of labeling and subsequent circulation of goods.
What the product category affects
The product category affects the following processes:
- stages and terms of introduction of mandatory digital labeling of goods;
- form of the goods card and requirements for its completion when registering goods in the Register of labeled goods;
- HS codes that can be used to register the goods in the Register of Marked Goods.
How to define a product category
The category of goods is determined by the product group to which the labeled goods belong, as well as consumer properties and (or) characteristics of such goods.

- Tobacco products other (of tobacco or tobacco substitutes)
- Smoking tobacco and its substitutes
